You can only lose if the bats touch the box, and if they touch the player, they will just push him. Bats appear only on one side.
If you stand in the lower right corner of the map with your back to the bats, they can push the player over the edge of the map. And outside the map, standing with your back to the bats, it is impossible to lose))

Not to diss you or anything, but how can you be confused by the controls?
Just not used to that kind of control scheme, like i said it was very temporary and only took a few seconds to get used to
